More about LASER Treatment
Dermatological lasers can be used for excess
hair removal (hirsutism), to remove birthmarks (port-win stains) and brown spots or age spots. To damage the
hair, the dermatologist chooses a laser that "attacks" the pigment located within the root (bulb) of the
hair. To treat redness, the dermatologist chooses a laser with a wavelength close to that of the red globules in order to "burst" the small vessels causing the red spots. To attenuate brown spots, the dermatologist chooses a laser that will help destroy the pigment of the
skin (melanin).
For Acne Treatments and acne scar removal, lasers are first used to kill p.acne bacteria that cause active acne lesions. In the second phase, the sebaceous (oil-producing) glands are shrunk. This causes the glands to produce less oil, preventing future acne outbreaks. Laser acne treatments usually last between fifteen minutes and one hour. There is no pain or down time for this procedure.
Acne scar removal is treated in much the same way as fine line and wrinkle removal. Lasers promote new collagen growth, filling scars from the inside out. Brown and red discoloration left from acne scars are removed, using treatments similar to the removal of pigmented lesions and vascular lesions.
Laser vein treatment is done using high-intensity pulses of light to clear red, broken veins. Normally 3-6 treatments of 15-30 minutes are required, spread out over several weeks. The results are permanent. Laser can be used on a range of problems to do with veins and skin pigment, including spider veins, freckles, age spots, port wine stains, permanent red rashes (rosacea), birthmarks, warts, scars, stretch marks and some tattoos.
Not all marks will disappear completely, but there should be a noticeable reduction. Success depends on an experienced operator using the right type of laser machine for your particular condition.
