Some tips to prevent Hangovers
Try not to drink on an empty stomach. Food (especially fatty food), will sop up the alcohol and prevent it from going directly to the bloodstream.

Hydrate your body. Every glass of juice or water you force yourself to swallow now is worth two in the morning. Alcohol acts as a diuretic and you need to replace the liquid. Alternate alcoholic beverages with non-alcoholic beverages. A fruit juice (which is particularly good at re-hydrating the body) is an especially good choice.

Choose your booze with care. There are poisons and chemicals (congeners) besides alcohol, which occur naturally in fermented drinks and contribute to a hangover. The general rule is that darker drinks, such as red wine, bourbon, scotch, and brandy have more congeners than lighter drinks like white wine, vodka, and gin. The cheaper the drink, the more poisonous it will be.

Consume less than one drink per hour. Your liver breaks down alcohol, at the rate of about a beer an hour, so spreading out the drinking over the course of an evening will lessen the likelihood of a hangover.

Quit smoking and hangovers will be 50% less nasty

Hangover cures
Take a pill: If you want to take a pill, a multivitamin might help, by replenishing some of the B vitamins lost during urination. Aspirin tends to upset the stomach and aggravates the symptoms of a hangover.

No more alcohol. The health-care pros generally believe that if after night of serious drinking, you wake up with a serious hangover and then still want to continue drinking, you are an alcoholic. Get help!

For a headache that will not go away, try an icepack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel, 20 minutes on your head, 10 minutes off.

Get a sugar fix by eating a chocolate or jellybeans. The body needs sugar to break down the alcohol, which is why you are feeling weak and lightheaded.

Drink sports energizing drinks. They contain many nutrients that the body may be lacking after a heavy drinking night.

Drink a good strong cup of coffee or 2. Just two cups of coffee will reduce the swelling of the blood vessels in your brain and ease your headache. While you are at it, drink a couple of glasses of water too.

Drink fruit juice. The water in juice rehydrates your body, the fructose (sugar) it contains helps burn up the alcohol leaving you feeling much better.

Drink at least 5-6 full glasses of water after drinking alcohol, just before going to bed. This will prevent dehydration caused by the alcohol and alleviate the hangover symptoms.

Eat Italian food. Through extra virgin olive oil and the liberal use of fresh ripe tomatoes, Italians have learned the secret minimal heart disease and curing hangovers at the same.

A Vitamin B tablet before drinking alcohol will make a big difference in the morning.
Eat rice, grains, cereals, peas, beans and nuts. They all contain Vitamin B1, or Thiamine, which helps you metabolize the alcohol and stabilizes the nervous system.

Eat a banana as they contain potassium, which is guaranteed to revitalize your body after a heavy session.

A great cure for nausea and hangovers is drinking ginger. Sailors have used it to cure seasickness for centuries (seasick tablets are often 100% ginger).

Bloody Marys (without the vodka) are a well-known hangover treatment.

Important note:
See a doctor IMMEDIATELY if you are experiencing tremors, stomach pain, or if you see blood in your vomit. These are indications that you have drunk too much, and must get professional medical attention, (like a stomach pump at the local emergency room). Better to be safe than sorry.
